Questions
Your questions, answered
How often should I have an eye test?
Most adults should have an eye exam every two years. We recommend a yearly check for children, people over 60, anyone with diabetes or high blood pressure, and anyone with a family history of glaucoma, or sooner if your optometrist advises it. Come in straight away if your sight changes suddenly.
Do you accept walk-ins?
Yes, we see walk-in patients whenever an optometrist is free. Booking online guarantees your time and means a shorter wait, so it’s the best way to be seen when it suits you.
Can I bring my own prescription?
Yes. Bring a prescription from another clinic and we can make your glasses from it. If it is more than two years old, or your eyes feel different, we’ll suggest a quick re-check so your new lenses are right.
How do I pay by bank transfer?
Choose “Bank transfer” at checkout. You’ll see our account details and your order number. Use the order number as the payment reference, then upload a photo or screenshot of your transfer receipt on the order page (or send it to us). We confirm your payment and prepare your order. You can also pay at the clinic.
Do you do children’s eye tests?
Yes, we see patients of all ages. We recommend a first full eye test before a child starts school and then once a year. Children don’t need to be able to read letters: we use pictures, shapes and simple games.
How long does an eye exam take?
A comprehensive eye exam takes about an hour. If we use drops to widen your pupils, your eyes may be sensitive to light for a few hours, so bring sunglasses and consider not driving straight afterwards.
What should I bring to my appointment?
Your current glasses and contact lenses (and their case), any old prescriptions, a list of medicines you take, and sunglasses for the journey home.
How long do new glasses take?
Most glasses are ready within a few working days. Specialist lenses such as progressives or high prescriptions can take a little longer; we’ll tell you when you order.
What if I have an eye emergency?
Call us straight away if you have sudden loss of vision, flashes and new floaters, a painful red eye or an eye injury. For chemical splashes, rinse the eye with clean water for at least 15 minutes, then seek urgent care.
